Pastels

Pastels are commonly used in art classes and in art studios around the globe. They are an ideal medium for artists of all skill levels. In fact, some teachers prefer to teach with pastels because of their fun and forgiving nature.

Pastels are available in a variety of colors. These colors are derived from a pigment. The pigment that is in a pastel is the same type of pigment that can be found in oil-based paints.

When artwork is created with pastels it becomes fragile. It has to be stored and cared for in a specific way. If the work is not cared for correctly it can be damaged or completely ruined.
